maintenance and logs

Hey,

It's been awhile since I've posted on here, but wanted someone to take a look at what's up with my machine. I'm considering adding Windows XP SP3 to my system, but wanted to make sure all was in order with it before trying, as I've heard people have had problems with the SP3 update.

I've had some glitchy things in the past with the system, but nothing crippling for quite some time.

I'd appreciate a quick once over of my logs, just so I know that everything is clean, and I'm good to go with the update.

Thanks for taking a look...

So, I went ahead and tried installing Service Pack 3, and received the 'access is denied' pop-up about midway through the installation. Twice.

I tried closing my anti-virus/firewall applications as is suggested in the help files on the Microsoft Support pages, and still the same 'access is denied' message.

Should I use their advanced suggestion of resetting the registry with a file called 'Subinacl.exe'? I'm a bit concerned that messing with the registry will seriously screw up my system, and I'm not super solid on how to fix a registry once I've changed it... and honestly, I'm worried I'll change the registry and get the same 'access is denied' message and then have goofed up my registry for nothing.

Do you know, is this 'Subinacl.exe.' workaround worth it? Am I even posting this question on the right forum?
