Boy am i in a soup!

Every now and then....its actually more often than that....

    I get the following alert...
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Virus Alert
Norton Antivirus has deleted and removed a virus from your computer

    Object Name : E:/sysfirewall.exe
    Virus Name : Spybot.Worm
Action Taken : The file was automatically deleted.

    -------------------------------------------------------
What I don't understand is why does it come up so often if it has been deleted. I have run spybot and lavasoft. I have also run stinger. All this in safe mode as recommended by your site. Nothing to report. I have also run Macaffe and Norton2004. (I use win 2K)
My system is very lethargic. It boots very slowly and even music played on it is interrupted with breaks. Sounds bad! Wait theres more...

I get mail from sources I don't know....and they say that they detected a virus called PE_TENROBOT.C from my mail that I never sent! Conspiracy theory?

I have also done an online virus scan with Trend. No results

I have searched for sysfirewall in the Task manager in vain.

    Now what do I do?

    Re: virus messages

Did you run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

I know you mentioned some of them. But did you run them all and in the order and fashion prescribed? Also a note: if you have installed both Norton's and McAfee's antivirus applications, uninstall one. You must only use one antivirus application. They can conflict with each other and they waste precious system resources (especially Norton and McAfee).

If you have run ALL of the above if you still have a problem, follow the guideline below and post your HJT log.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT
