Allowing only certain internet sites (with internet explorer or in general)

I own a business and have recently noticed my employees are spending a lot of times playing games and browsing on the internet when they should be doing other things. I can't disable the internet completely because they need access to work related sites.

I've tried going to Tools>>Internet Options>>Content and enabling the Content Advisor. This works on a lot of sites, but one example where it doesn't work is msn.com. It loads the page then asks for the password to allow viewing. If they hit cancel, they can continue browsing.

Does anyone know a better solution so I can block every site except for the ones they need?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You will get plenty of advice, real soon now, from MG 'ers on how to do what you want. In the meantime, I would make it perfectly clear to your employees, both verbally, all together in a meeting, and in writing INDIVIDUALLY TO EVERY EMPLOYEE, that what they are doing is against company practice. Make sure you file a copy of each letter with each employees personnel record. Most will abide by your request, one or two will thing they are smarter than you. Infrequent use of the Net for personal access is not too bad, but if it starts to interfere with the tasks they are PAID for, then it is time to step in.

I have already talked to my employee's about the situation, yet it still happens. I'd hate to fire any of these people because they are really good workers when they are doing their job. I'm still open to any suggestions anyone might have.

Being the boss, sometimes you gotta bite the bullet. Put the warning in writing, to each individual employee, as suggested earlier. If this doesn't decrease the usage then you may have to fire one. Maybe give them a half hour period, every day (during their lunch time?) when they have freedom of access (no porn stuff, though). And all other times it is out of bounds and a sackable/warnable offence. 2-3 strikes and they are out. IMHO. Bazza
