    Hi folks,

I am hoping you can help me as I am fast tearing my hair out. Yesterday afternoon we suddenly were inundated with email failure notices sent to two of our Outlook email addresses. Say a hundred every hour or so.

I know that some spammers clone your return address, and we are used to receiving a certain number of this kind of failure notices, but the numbers went through the roof - including a number that seem to be blocked by my ISP postmaster with subject: "Undeliverable:**Message you sent blocked by our bulk email filter**"

I have tried to do everything to detect malware on the instructions you have posted, but the problem still seems to be there (if it is on this PC). I'll attach the logs.

    Hope you can help.

    Many thanks,
    Peter

    Here are some more logs.

I seem to be missing one. Let me know if you need anything else.

Actually, problem this morning doesn't seem to be as bad as it was last night - but we've been selectively turning cable modem on and off rather than just leaving it on all the time.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

It appears that you did not run CounterSpy or AVG Antispyware. It looks like you may have already uninstall CounterSpy and Spybot at well since they do not appear in your Uninstall programs list in the log from ShowNew.

Also you did not run the Bitdefender Online scan. You gave us a log from BitDefender 9 Professional Plus Version: 9.5. Is this something you already had installed because it is not what we requested? Also the online scanner will often find and fix things the full antivirus program does not.

HOWEVER, none of your logs are really reporting any malware. I would suspected that your email address is just one of the unlucky recipients of an incoming spammers attack. That is assuming the email failure notices were not for email you were sending.

You do need to uninstall some old Sun Java versions and get the new one.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment
