Problem with Realtek AC'97 Audio/ ?Video controller

I recently bought a PC from a friend and have formatted the hard drive and installed XP Pro. The onboard soundcard (Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA) appears to have installed correctly but when I try to play anything back all I get is a faint clicking sound from the speakers. I have checked that the speakers work and that Realtek AC'97 is enabled in BIOS etc. I have checked other forums and found no solution to this problem.
Also, there is an unrecognised device, "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)", any idea what driver I need for this?

    Motherboard is a MS-7061.

    Thanks,
    James
