Epson printer nightmare

Good morning:
I just upgraded my in-laws pc to xp and everything went A-OK ;exceptof course) they have an "Epson stylus scan 2000" and the CD that came w/it only have drivers for win 95/98/2000 so I went around all the suggested sites looking for an XP driver with no success , I googled, searched, and bottom line is : still cant install printer. tried w/ generic xp driver(no luck) tried epson generic 9pin (nada),tried epson generic 24pin(no go), bottom line is ;wasted all saturday and still no printer, my question is: does anybody knows what to do in this situation???, I,m frustated and dont know what to try next- any help will be "God sent".

I had an older Epson printer color lsII that that was not supported by xp. I just plugged it in without any software at all (did not use disk) and it worked. My grandson is still using it with xp.

If all else fails call Epson. But before using the numbers provided try 1 800 5551212 ( that's an 800 number operator) for a different free 800 number if it is listed and actually talk with a real person.

if you connect it does windows detect new hardware?
if not try to install it from the control panel. letting windows determine what drivers to use.
I have an ancient scanner and printer and they both work as long as I DON'T use the drivers that came with it..lol

 

They can drive you crazy. see if this helps. go to control panel then printers and other hardware then click on view installed printers. right click on the epson printer and click on the use printer online choice. Hope this will make it work.
