    Ok,

Well lets see, been searching for about a half hour, still really can't find what category this would be under, I'm looking to Password protect Files and Folders.

This is a buisness PC and several people access this PC other than me but it belongs to me and everytime I save some work on here it's edited, moved, erased...etc.

Plus I really don't want to have to put a password on Windows itself just to do so, any programs that anyone knows of that is reliable, that will do so?

The best program on the planet (especially for someone not acquainted with using this type of utility) for securing files and folders called WinGuard Pro; and should definitely help you out here…You set the program's main password, lock the file(s) that you want to protect and afterwards, anyone trying to access this file or folder gets a popup asking for the password. If they do not know it they cannot open the file!

The freeware edition is available here at Major Geeks. It is actually quite functional and does not 'expire' but does not have as many options available as the premium does. I think it currently costs around $25 bucks for a single user to upgrade to the 'premium' edition; but it packs quite a bit of piece of mind (at least in my case) for that price. I've thoroughly tested the various versions which have come out since I first tried WinGuard Pro and it is one of the few 3rd party apps that I simply installed and have had ZERO problems with.

Additionally, even though you might not like using the "windows" password at boot up; you can easily use WinGuard to do the same thing very easily and it is far more secure that using the "easily hacked" win logon password at boot up. You can optionally enable or disable this "Lock on boot" option.

Another very reliable "locking" security that I have more recently thoroughly tested and decided to keep; is called the very reliable "Lock Files & Folders." Be sure to check that one out as well. It offers many more options but is a wee bit trickier to configure and it does not come in a freeware edition (only a paid shareware version) and it costs around $40 bucks.

I liked using this one because you can configure it to not show a password box; but instead to show's it as an 'empty file' as well as a somewhat drab looking and inane "error warning" popup that the file is empty and undeletable when someone clicks on it. Only you; or whoever you allow has access to the password, will know this is an inane warning (not the unauthorized person trying to access the file protected file and/or folder!).

The only reason that I rate WinGuard Pro 'higher' than Lock Files & Folders is because the WinGuard utility is far easier to master and it comes in a very functional freeware edition.

    Thanks for the input fellas.

Hehe I kinda had a feeling there was a catch to half free software, either you need to purchase a better one to protect a bigger file, or the other one you need it to protect a whole folder

But those will do for now, WinGaurd Pro is actually the easiest and more of what I need, unfortunately at this point and time it will have to wait until I get some cash lol.

    Appreciate it.
