    Hi there, this is my first post and I was re-directed to this website from canttalktech.com. I've been suffering from this relatively unheard of, until now, virus that redirects Firefox's google searches. I've run a little program called GooredFix.exe and it has created a log for me. I've been told to post my log on here and this is what it says:

    GooredFix v1.92 by jpshortstuff
    Log created at 15:06 on 09/04/2009 running Option #1 (User)
    Firefox version 3.0.8 (en-GB)

    =====Suspect Goored Entries=====

    =====Dumping Registry Values=====

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8\extensions]
    "Plugins"="C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8\extensions]
    "Components"="C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions]
    "{3f963a5b-e555-4543-90e2-c3908898db71}"="C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\Firefox"

    Now I really don't know what this means and I won't pretend to but does anyone here know what I need to do with these results in order to fix my computer. I'm currently doing research for an assignment and it's proving very difficult to search using google. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

    Please begin by clicking Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices.
    • Scroll down to “Non-plug and Play Drivers” and click the plus icon to open those drivers.
    • Then search forTDSSserv.sys
    • Let me know if you find this or not.
    • If you do find it, right click on it, and select Disable. Do not try to uninstall it.
    • Also if TDSSserv.sys is found and you disable it, then reboot.
    • After reboot continue on with the below cleaning instructions.

    Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

    Corporal Punishment, thanks for the reply. I've had a quick look for the file and failed to find TDSSserv.sys using the steps you stated. I'm going to go through the next set of steps and I will attach the logs.
