Hey Folks. I just installed Avast! on my computer after having Norton 2004. I am getting suspicious of the reliability of Norton as I have pretty much never found a virus with it. Now that I have installed Avast, I have found W32:Kuang2. I have read up on this virus and apparently it gives out passwords to hackers who have created a backdoor. The reason I'm panicking is because I have just set up my (first ever) FTP server. I don't want my user's passwords to be submitted to a hacker because I'm sure he'll delete stuff off the server. I have WinXP Pro. Thanks in advance.

Ok. The folder that Avast said contained the virus is ActiveScan. This name rings a bell but I can't quite place it. It probably belongs to Norton, Spybot, Microsoft Antispyware, or Ad-Aware all of which are on my system. So, is Avast finding a component of one of these programs (ActiveScan) and saying that it is a virus?

That is what I was pointing out. Avast will detect the Panda's Activescan and interprete part of it a Kuang. This is a false postitive.

Yeah, sorry. I had a brain fart there.
