the TROJAN GROMOZON ? I found it in my counterspy scan 2 days ago, I quarantined it with counter spy only to find it again this morning.

I am not computer savy by any means, just curious how bad this is?

    Welcome to Magor Geeks.
I am not a malware Geek but I've heard about gromozon. I bet it's a piece of cake for the specialists waiting at the Malware Removal forum ;).
Before posting in that forum read the Read and Run guide. It is important to follow each and every step, because it provides all the info needed to kick the malware off.

    Good luck!

Well I just called Counterspy , this was the program that was picking up the Trojan Gromozon (3rd time was this morning), they told me it is a false positive and they will be sending an update today on it.

My Nortons Internet Security has not picked it up, so do you think things are okay, or do I still need to go through the malware clean up procedures ( which scares the heck out of me, I'll probably blow my puter up or something, lol)?

And thanks for the Warm Welcome dromano and Sailor!

There are some good guys in the malware area and they will guide you through step by step. Wait for your reply from Counterspy or if you want to be doublely sure head for the malware forum after reading and performing the steps in Sailor's link.Good luck and Welcome to MG's

Malware/Adware come in all flavors, from very scarey to mildly annoying to buying into it because it offers something you like.

Porn Dialer, for example, likes to make your modem dial a 900 number where they charge several dollars per minute. Others open your computer to hackers so they can use it to send spam (and not be traced, it comes back on your computer).

My Mom liked weatherbug (which I detest), so I had to live with it on their machines.

Personally I take it all very seriously. If you think you still have something, read the "readme" files, do what they say, and then take it to the malware forum. Or you could go to the lounge and chat.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
