    Hi guys,

I recently changed from cable broadband to Verizon DSL. Using a wireless router and laptop. After loading DSL, my laptop doesn't automatically pick up my router. However, my wife's laptop doesn't have any problems automatically picking up the connection. For me to get onto the internet I have to do the following:

    1. Start > Run > Service.msc
    2. Choose Wireless Zero Configuration > Start Program
    3. Open Wireless Network Connections
    4. Change Advanced Settings
    5. Check box "Use Windows to configure wireless network".
    6. Then it will usually pick the signal right up.

The problem is that I never had to do this. I would just turn on computer and in seconds the connection would be made automatically.

Any ideas on checking connections, drivers, etc?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I can't find that program in my list or when I searched for the file?

So, when you check the box to use Windows the configure the wireless connection, it changes back after rebooting?

Is there any other configuration tool that you know of running? Check your notification area right after startup for anything that has to do with a wireless network or wireless network card or anything of that nature. The notification area is the place in the bottom right hand corner next to the clock that has all of the little icons for some of the things that run in the background.

Your computer is probably set to hide inactive icons so make sure to click the little arrow button to expand the notification area to show these if you can. Every time I've ever seen any other utility to configure wireless networks it's always shown in the notification area. If you have one, it should be there. If it is, sometimes they will have a setting in that utility to allow you to use Windows to configure the network. If you find a configuration tool first try right clicking on the icon to see if there is a setting that says something about using Windows to configure the network. If there is, that's all you should have to press to get it to work.
