I'm helping clean up a system for a computer illiterate friend, and they have 6 user accounts on this thing!! The ironic thing, though...they all have administrator privilages. Still though...doing something in one user account, doesn't cover the whole system for some things, which ofcourse is the purpose of user accounts. However...can you not get into the MAIN administrator account that will act as the entire system!?!?!

I know when you go into Safe Mode, you get an "Administrator" option, but not in regular mode. The reason I bring up this issue...when I try to do some things in safe mode ((ONE example would be running the panda online scan)) the resolution is so big that you can't see/access half of the necessary needs!! Also, when in regular mode...I download something while in a specific user account, and tell it to download to a specific spot using the drop down tree...the stinkin thing is absolutely NOWHERE...even using the search feature to search the entire c: drive!!

The real buggar....the guy set a password on the main administrator account ALONG (( 3years)) time ago and can't remember it...so does anyone know of a free piece of software that can reslove this issue?? I think I found one, but I want to see what you think!! I know you can do repeir installs, or system restore, etc., but he was hoping to resolve this with just a symple ethical (ofcourse) hacker, or registry edit or something to that effect!?!?

For true cleaning purposes you must login to each user account separately.

If you do not download programs/files to proper folders (like we indicate in the READ ME), they are not available in other user accounts. This is one reason why we complain about not having HJT on the Desktop or in C:\Documents and Settings. You can run the online scanners in normal boot mode if desired but just be aware they may not be able to fix as many items that way.

Easy enough to make a special boot CD. See: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
