    Hi,

Tired of slipping a file to shorter path, then another, then to final place. This is how I do a copy sometimes when vista do a pop up msg that file name or path too long. Is there a utility I can use when vista decides to be cranky.

This is how I am force to traverse a directory due to vista limitation if u want to place some files in a folder to a another destination. Ideally, looking for utility to replace vista copy. tx and happy holidays.

    Hi

XP and other NT varients are the same with this issue at times with long file names, but try this as its worked for me in the past on XP, not yet needed it in Vista.

    Are you using Vista SP1?

Tx for your reply Halo. Try this in XP. What, not explicit stated, for so desperate to try anything for I am tired on losing some files when transferring/copying. System design too manual for computer in year 2000 onward.

Happy it is an issue with prior system and thus likely chance that a geek would have a utility or solution. Vista would run an xp product but help interface not work due to new design with no module for conversion or backward compatibility.

Legit copy of vista with automatic upgrade but think I have sp1 pack if been around 2 months ago. Hate auto update and uac. Do not worry, virus/trojan free. Security concern none for backdoor design entry by them since 95, I think and design assume software good was not how other firewalls operate. Too lazy to use other.

PS: Seeing email, happy to find a workaround/solution.
    - What do u geeks do since MS operating sytem been around. I did not name those files and MS uses those paths (app data/roaming/etc to user/desktop/etc.) tx. Again, it just one or two files in 100 files per folder with several folders.
    - File maintenance utility free-ware/shareware do u guys use in terms of best or highly recommended. tx
    - Sorry for double post and cannot edit the first double post or request delete.
