I want complete control over the progs that XP Pro puts on my CPU.

I searched and found some suggestions concerning sysoc.inf

My cpu does not have a sysoc.inf file.

How do I get all the progs XP installed to show up in the add/remove applet?

For example I do not want any of the accessibility progs but they are not listed in the add/remove applet.

Where are the cpu intellectuals and XP experts?

    Help! Please!

I would really like to know the answer to this before I reformat my drives and Reinstall XP and progs this week.

So, if I am to understand this correctly, you want to have a say in what Windows XP installs on your PC, and I'm assuming you mean stuff like Windows Media Player, or Internet Explorer, or any other 'built in' application. Is this correct? If so, you can't use Add/Remove Programs to completely remove these things. What you have to do is create a customized install CD in which the components you don't want have been removed, so when you install Windows from this custom CD, the components aren't installed in the first place. This can be accomplished by using nLite and maybe a slipstreaming program like Ryan's VM Integrator or something similar. Having never done this myself, I'm no expert, but I know that nLite was designed with this type of purpose in mind. Here's some links:
nLite http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4324.html (nLite home page http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html)
    Ryan's Integrator http://www.majorgeeks.com/RVM_Integrator_d5879.html
I hope this helps.... good luck, and welcome to Major Geeks :major

I think that the experts and intellectuals are taking a vacation this weekend, but maybe I can help a little! The annoyances that you mentioned aren't programs installed by the OS but rather a feature that it provides. The way to remove some of these features is through Control Panel/Add-Remove Windows components. Formatting and reinstalling the OS will do you no good, as the features will be there when the OS is reinstalled.

The only program that I'm aware of to help you in what you want to do is nLite. Just do a search for it, and it will provide you with the necessary information to make a modified installation disk. A beta version is available for download here, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4324.html. Hope that this helps!

I downloaded the progs and am going to try them. Sounds like they will be the solution.

I am reformatting and starting over because I am changing xp to a single drive and using my raid drives for files. Also to get rid of all the remnants from progs I have tested and I am installing a new sound card and some other music hardware.

dlb and Novice thank you very much for the help.

You are welcome, but be carefull as an nLite'd CD might not install correctly, not install at all, or give you problems during installation. Please read all the information that you can find concerning what you want to do! :major
