ME wont boot. or harddrive.

sorry about title, did not know how to word my problem.
this could be a long post so sorry before I start.
O.S. M.E.
when I start my comp. it say's invalid system disk,replace disk and hit any key.
I have tried everything I know to solve this. Hope some one can come up with an answer to my prob.
have run drive as slave in another comp. and it can be accessed.
It is seen in Bios.
have tried to run cd to repair. Tells me it is not for the system.
have run scandisk. no prob's.
also full scan. no prob's. show up.
I am at my wits end with this.
so I hope you can help me please.
I will answer any questions on what else I can do.
also have changed all leads and things.

 

Well firstly I think this is a software problem rather than hardware but anyhow....

Boot using a bootable floppy (get one from http://www.bootdisk.com) and then type SYS C: and see if that helps.

 

have booted from floppy.
did not try sysc. will give that a go and post back

 

booted from floppy.
typed sysc. got wrong parameter.
so still no go.

 

How many Hard Drives have you ???,, if more than one check the boot order in bios settings and if only one check your jumper and make sure it is set to 'Master' also it maybe a floppy drive prob, so disconnect or disable floppy seek in bios.

 

There should be a space between SYS and the C:
also noting the colon after the C

I have done that and it say's
system transfered.
then "A" prompt again.
what do I do now?

 

Well now the system filees have been put back onto the hard drive you should be able to boot from it. So remove the floppy and give it a go. Report back as to what happens.

I am running all usual scans at the moment.
