Is it possible to access the web from anywhere on your laptop with a plug in card? Not WIFI but access anywhere.

Sorry dont fully get your question?

You'll have to elaborate a little as to the anywhere part, as the 3 ways to get web access on a laptop are:

    DialUp
    Ethernet
    WiFi

all/some are built into a laptop or can be added via the PCMCIA slot if your laptop has one.

However you would still need to connect to an ISP via one of those methods, if you are meaning you wouldnt be using this laptop at home, the most common free way these days is via wifi hotspots which many citys now have some sort of hotspots ( some free some not, dunno your area to advise ) or as your mentioning not using WiFi then via a friends ethernet broadband connection you could plus Internet Cafes who for a price per hour should allow you to connect your laptop ethernet connection to their service, others are universitys/schools and librarys who may have Ethernet connections free to use if your a student or staff.

all boils down to wherever your taking this laptop you need to be able to plug the laptop in via DUN or Ethernet to connect to the net ( DUN would need you to most likely install some dialup software ).

I'm interested in a roaming internet connection using a cell phone patched into the laptop. Can you get this yet? If you can text message on a cell phone you should be able to get on the web.

Yes you can, see your phone network provider for the suitability of your phone to act as a modem and you will also need to purchase a "Data Connectivity Kit" it is slower than WiFi.

If you would have mentioned in the first place what you were wanting to do, I wouldnt have wasted my valuable time typing up the wrong information and would have posted alot more information on the correct soloution.

I'm a NYC lawyer so I know something about valuable time. I'm using a Wifi connection now and only recently heard about a truly mobile connection.
