Hi Chaslang, i hope u see this thread b/c i could use your help.
I've followed a thread (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=205451) that u covered regarding the removal of HelpAssistant virus. I did everything u told Mr. Pink to do and i would like u to please take a look at my final logs to see if everything is alright now w/ my WinXP P.C. I've uploaded the same last 2 logs that u asked Pink to upload in message #4,
    C:\ComboFix.txt
    C:\MGlogs.zip

Would u please take a look?

Never a good idea to use instructions given to another user ....... but it looks like you are clean. I would have preferred that you also attached the other requested logs:
    SAS
    MBAM
    RootRepeal

You should now be able to go to the control panel / user accounts / and remove the HelpAssistant account.

I would also suggest very highly that you use a start up manager to stop Limewire from running at start up!
You may wish to use one of these:

    Startup Manager

    Startup_CPL

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ok. Thank you very much Tim for the reply. I actually thought that u guys wanted us to follow other threads/directions relating to our PC problems.

There was actually never any HelpAssistant icon in the User Accounts. About 3 days ago my PC began to work very slow, freeze while playing games or surfing the net, and hang forever at shutdown. I then discovered a folder under Documents and Settings named HelpAssistant. I never created this folder nor asked for it (at least to my knowledge). In this folder i found basic copies of My Documents, and many many other files of mine. So i googled HelpAssistant and found a bunch of virus articles and threads on this subject.
Anyway, there was never any HelpAssistant User Account, just the folder under Documents and Settings. Now my PC is running normal as it used to.
Also, should i now delete the Recovery Console?
Oh and in retrospect, when u enable the Guest User Account, does that create the HelpAssistant folder? Because i actually enabled the Guest account for my uncle more than a week ago, but then i disabled it a few a hours after, and instead created a new account for him. Could these actions have caused my problems?

    SAS is for SuperAnti-spyware.

Here are your user account, as you will see, there is a HelpAssistant account that has admin. privileges and needs to be disabled.
    Code:
    Users on this computer:
    Is Admin? | Username
    ------------------
       Yes | Administrator
              | Guest (Disabled)
       Yes | HelpAssistant
              | SUPPORT_388945a0 (Disabled)
       Yes | The Master

You can remove the recovery console, but we usually suggest keeping it in case you ever find yourself unable to boot and with the xp cd.
