CPU Keeps Freezing

    Hi,

    For the past week my computer keeps randomly freezing at any time, whether I'm connected to the internet or not. It can stay frozen from couple of seconds to permantently, when the only way I can recover is to switch the power off. I'm connected to broadband on a BT Home Network 1200, with 2 other computers connected to the network. I have Symantec Norton Antivirus and also the BT firewall activated.

    I have installed and run spybot, ad-aware and ewido anit mal-ware and the computer hasn't been freezing as much since ive done this, can someone please look at my log file and tell me if ive missed anything please? Thanks in advance.

    Operating System: Windows XP Pro (5.1 Build 2600
    System Manufacturer: Packard Bell NEC
    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.00GHz
    Memory: 192MB RAM

    Log file does not look bad, there are some entries with Freeserve that can be removed, but my primary concern lies here:

    Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000)

    Your IE is out of date and I dont see any mention of service pack 1 or 2 meaning your opened to countless threats. I would get your machine up to date on service packs and a good guess would be your not keeping up on drivers either. Try those things, then see how she runs.
