Can't get realtek driver to install, no sound

I did a fresh install of WinXP Pro 64. I can not seem to get audio to install whatsoever. The real tek driver is nowhere under my hardware. I've checked numerous times. I've tried restarting and reinstalling it numerous times. When I try to install it I get an error message that says "realtek audio hd driver failed!". I have an Acer Aspire 5100. Here is the everest report.

 

I don't think you can run 64 on your ACER.I google it ,but I can't find sound driver for 64

 

Try this first:
KB835221 Hotfix
1. Remove "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus"
2. Download from Microsoft the KB835221 hotfix and install it: KB835221 Hotfix http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...tem=pv-22533-1
3. Restart the system, and XP will automatically detect the devices
4. After this you should be able to install Realtek drivers.

 

Actually, yes you can run xp64 on an Acer. I'm running it with almost no probs now. Did a fresh install again, got almost everything working, inc. sound. (Hubby had installed Vista drivers the first time. Which is why it wasn't working right.) Except for my wireless and video drivers. ATI driver tells me there are too many charachters and to shorten them. No idea how. And wireless may just be my network, or I have the wrong driver. Not sure yet. There are a few things that won''t install on 64, such as itunes. Which sux. But other then that no complaints. TY for the help everyone.

 

I went to Micro$oft to download this hotfix. Now I will see if it will cure my problem.
