    Hi, I found these 3 things (msa.exe, findbasic125.exe, h.exe) on my machine and tried to remove them with spybot, adaware and malwarebytes, but when I tried to do this, they crashed.

    After that, if I try to open the program, I get a message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".

    I have tried all the processes that were suggested in the read and run with the following results:

    Couldn't re-open Supersypware to retrieve the log.
    Malwarebytes opens, but when I press scan, it closes and then i get the same message above.
    Comdofix - won't work, it comes with "connecting to server to get updates" but then goes blank and nothing happens after that.
    Rootrepeal - successful, log attached.
    MGtool - log attached.

    Please try doing the below:

    First use windows explorer to find and delete:
    Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then doube click on it to run it.

    AVPFind.bat

    It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running.

    Now download and Run exeHelper

    • Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
    • Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
    • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
    • Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)

    Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

    Also please try running the below online scan:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

    Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. It does not save a log.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Attach the below logs when finished with all of the above:

    • C:\avplog.txt - from AVPfind
    • log.txt - from exeHelper
    • C:\MGlogs.zip - from MGtools

    The C:\ assumes that drive C is you Windows boot drive. If you boot from another drive, then use the correct drive letter above.

    I cannot find the following: c.exe, f.exe or i.exe. also, I cannot delete MFPL7014.DLL, it says that it is being used by another program when I wasn't using anything. I will wait to hear back from you before I do the other things as I'm not sure if I should Yet. Thanx for your help so far.

    SUPERAntiSpyware is as follows:
    Registry items detected; Adware.Tracking Cookie x2
    File items detected; Trojan.Agent/Gen x2
    Adware.Mirar/NetNucleus x1
    All removed from machine when proceeded to next button

    After I re-booted the machine, I had a pop up saying "Grep is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

    A few things left to deal with.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
    -
    Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else! Then make sure these folders are empty of all that you can delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\Avenger.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    After I completed these tasks and rebooted, Combo Fix started all by itself (this must have been the "Grep" problem I had). Cobo Fix completed the scan and log is attached.
    After this, I uninstalled the programs that weren't working and re-installed them, results as follows: Ad-Aware, worked fine.
    Spybot: when I tried installing it, it had a popup saying that the existing file was marked as read only. I cannot find it to delete it so, I had to ignore, then, when I try to run it, I get "unable to execute: c:\Program Files\Spybot-Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe. Create Process failed; Code 5. Access is denied.
    Malwarebytes: can't update as it freezes, also, when the scan is completed, it freezes when I try to removed the infections.

    Logs for ComboFix, Avenger & MGTools attached.

    First please put ComboFix on your desktop where we instruct you to put it rather than here:
    c:\documents and settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\ComboFix.exe

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now I suggest that you uninstall MBAM, run CCleaner and after a reboot, re-install it.

    You will need to post in the software forum for your issue with SpyBot.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

  9. preciuoscat

    preciuoscat Private E-2

    After adding the reg, I got a success message.

    MBAM - still the same, when updating it doesn't respond and then removing the infection doesn't respond either. infection - c:\WINDOWS\win32k.sys - Trojan.Dropper. Also, when I uninstalled it, there was a read only file that I can't delete so again (like spybot), I had to ignore it.

    When i ran CCleaner, I still only had the temporary internet files and temporary files checked, was this right?

    MGLogs attached

    Sorry, I missed that one.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\win32k.sys
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\AAXC8.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\AAXD1.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\AAXDC.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\E_S166.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A81300000003}
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A81300000003}.ini
    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\temp\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A81300000003}
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Awem
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Batovi
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Merscom
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\PoBros

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now uninstall MBAM, run CCleaner and then re-download MBAM and install. Do the updates before you attempt to do the scan.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    I am not seeing any malware left on your system. The problem with MBAM updates may be related to Comodo.

    Tell me what issues you may still have.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners.They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hi, the issues I am still having are as follows:
    Can't run spybot - will post in software section
    Can't update or remove infections for Malwarebytes
    Tried to install and buy Superantispyware but got the following error: "Error 1321: Windows Insataller has insufficient privileges to modify this file
    C:\Program Files\ SUPERAntiSpyware\ SUPERAntiSpyware.exe."
    Note: I had firewall and antivirus turn off when trying this.

    I would then suggest that you uninstall all three. Run CCleaner to remove any leftovers and then try re-installing the latest versions.

    i have uninstalled and re-installed malwarebytes and it is updating and working fine. Uninstalled Superspyware but didn't re-install it as i have acg8 free. When i uninstalled spybot, i couldn't remove c:\program files\ spybot - search & destroy so i saved the new one into c:\program file\ spybot - search & destroy good, and it is working fine now.
    everything else seems to be working really good now, thank you for all your help. Without people like you we would all be in a lot of trouble, so again, thank you very much
