I received a notice from Zone Alarm regarding a program update. I downloaded the file, but now it says that it's run into a problem, and it won't let me continue updating (first picture), nor will it let me try to uninstall the Zone Alarm entry within Add/Remove. When I click on ZoneAlarm in my Start menu, I receive an error. (Second Picture).

From what I remember, it says that something is running, that "True Vector" won't shut down.

I'm running without a Firewall at the moment.

    Hi!
I tried several times at downloading ZoneAlarm again today. I was able to get a tad farther, I believe it says it's installed, or incredibly close to it, but it says that there's a problem

The following are the errors that I received tonight.

Very frustrating, never had a problem with ZA before. I'm unable to uninstall the entry through add/remove, yet it says that it's having difficulties installing and seems like it's not there, eventhough I can see it in add/remove.

Should I just download another firewall?
If yes, what do you suggest for a user with limited knowledge?
    Thanks

you might give COMODO a try.
we started having problems with ZA a few months back, on two computers, just after a major update. After using ZA for years we tried sygate, but since it'[s free version has to be manually re-registered once a year I finally went with COMODO and have had no problems. seems to work great.

I see you are downloading ZoneAlarm V7.0

Many users have had issues with this version for various reasons. Some who successfully installed have also gone on to have ongoing issues due to bloatware in this version that previously wasn't.

If you still wish to use Zonealarm you may like to go back to the V6.0 versions which you can download from here http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=zalarm Just don't upgrade when the auto-updates prompt you in future.

Thank you very much for your replies. When the computer was turned on this morning, ZoneAlarm notified me that it had installed successfully, and to reboot.
    ????

All is well, it just suddenly decided to work. I dunno! lol

Hi Emms! Yes, I think I'll consider something else if I have these problems again. Never have I encountered that with ZA. Ah well, first time for everything I suppose! lol

    Take care of you,

I believe these messages are asking you to go to services and disable the True Vector (Internet) Service.

    Start
    Run
    services.msc
    Enter

Look for True Vector (mine has True Vector Internet) service. Double click it and disable it.

If that doesn't work, I would definitely try uninstalling with CCleaner's help and reinstalling the latest. :)

Oh my gosh, you sure got that right!
    lmao
    :D

Thanks so much! I never even thought of trying CCleaner for uninstalling, oh my gosh! I will keep your instructions handy in case I come across this problem again. The ZoneAlarm suddenly decided one morning to work, lol. Next time, I'll know what to do, thank you!
