    Welcome to Major Geeks!
Have you installed the chipset software? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng
Unfortunately, the info provided above doesn't really help pinpoint the audio driver, and installing the chipset driver won't fix the audio, but it might allow for Everest to get an accurate report for the audio driver. The "Intel 82801DB ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller" is just the interface that allows the main chipset to communicate to the audio chipset; it is not the actual chip the produces the sound. However, because you have a RealTek network chip, I'm going to take a shot, and say that the RealTek audio drivers might work. Download 'em from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Realtek_AC97_Drivers_d4400.html If that doesn't work, download and unzip and run Unknown Devices; it's a free utility that provides details about.... you guessed it.... unknown devices. It's usually more accurate than many of the other system info tools so give it a go. Download it here http://www.majorgeeks.com/Unknown_Devices_d3908.html

Good luck, and let us know what happens!

This should work. (From the .inf file; Intel ICH, ICH2, ICH3, ICH4, 440MX AC'97 Driver Install INF)

Unzip/extract the two files into an empty folder. Right click on the oem34.inf file and choose INSTALL. Restart your machine.

    Post back with your results.

yeah... i already did it... hmmm seems didnt work with my machine...
i tried Device Manager > Multimedia audio controller > Reinstall driver > install from specific location > sound video and game controller

    here what i got..

    Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio controller
    Intel 82801AB AC'97 Audio controller
    Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio controller
    Intel 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio controller
    Intel AC'97 Audio Controller

5 of them... Windows cant verify all of them...

Hmmm. Everest, Belarc, and Unknown Devices all ID the audio device as Intel 82801DB.

Ensure the Windows Audio service is set to automatic and running in Services. (Start, Run, services.msc.)

Then remove/delete/uninstall any of the others listed under Device Manager> Sound, video and game controllers and reboot. Then retry installing the 82801 DB drivers. If this doesn't work, then an additional driver (like WDM) may be required.
