    I used my jumpdrive in a school computer lab and then brought it to work , as I use it for both school and work. Work computer now has had many popups, not connecting to internet.

    Jump Drive as well as "C:\documentsandsettings\owner" have new shortcuts for "My documents" "My music" "My photos" etc, and a notepad text file "Passwords" these are from the infections, another student had the same files implanted on her jumpdrive after using it on the same computer

    Spybot found SmithFraud (i used the smithfraudfix on the forum to remove that) then it was finding Win32.fraudload.edt, when clicking on fix, spybot shuts down. I have run the READ & RUN ME 1st, and could not download Malewarebytes - says the drive is write protected or full, after running through all the other tools, i was able to download and run it - no infections found.

    The system seems to be running fine now, however the shortcuts are still present.

    SAS - error when trying to quarintine and remove, asks for email to send to SAS support and then closes

    MAM - could not download initially said "drive write protected or full" even when changing the name,later downloaded and ran fine after all other scans

    Combofix - popped up with an error, however i didnt write it down may have been "PVixxe.exe"

    MGtools - error for ProcessDLL.exe - clicked ok and ignored

    RootRepeal - no problems

    ** Shortcuts for "Documents, Music, New Folder, Password.txt, Pictures and Video" are still present in C:\Documentsandsettings\owner

    1. Before we continue on, please put your machine into normal start up mode by using MSCONFIG.

    2. Please go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following old versions of Java:

    Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 15
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2

    3. Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    4. Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:

    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Documents.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Music.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Pictures.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Passwords.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\New Folder.lnk
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp.txt

    Fcopy::
    C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\eventlog.dll|c:\windows\system32\eventlog.dll

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      [IMG]

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    5. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix. or avenger

    6. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!
