I heard a loud fluttering noise from my HDD instead of the usual low noise. I think the HDD might have be wearing out. The SMART analysis has everything normal.

either that or it could be that the read/heads are skipping over platters...

Does that mean the drive is going?

Check the temperature of your HD. Your noise could be a sign of overheating.

yeah it could be overheating. I would turn off the computer and wait till it cools down, and then turn it back on to see itf its still doing it. But I personaly think your drive may be going, you might as well take a try at opening it up and looking for anything that got unscrewed or loose. I think its more of a physical problem with the HD then a logical one most likely.

The HDD passed all the DELL diagnostics and the temp is within range.
