DVD drive want read DVD's/CD's

    I have a _NEC DVD+RW ND-5100A player in my laptop that is not reading any disk.
    My laptop Intel® Pentium, xp professional, 5.1.2600 sp1, inspiron 5150.

    It just stoped working one night, no new software or hardware added.

    I have updated drivers with no success and have rolled back the drivers with the same outcome. Uninstalled the drive and reloaded it. Power DVD will not run the drive either. You can here the DVD spinning and trying to load.

    Is it toasted or can I do more.
