Intel(R) 82852/82855, Intel Extreme Graphics 2

Hi, i recently bought this game, perhaps ill advisedly. My laptop seemed smack between the minimum and recommended requirements so i went ahead and got it. Unfortunately upon installation there have been two issues: one, the config panel program for this game comes up blank, there are no options. This is obviously a fault.
Second is apparently my graphics controller is incompatable.
Needed is a 'NVIDIA GeForce series or ATI RADEON 9000 series graphics card with 32 meg of VRAM (AGP)'
Now you'll have picked up im an amateur, but my laptop graphics controller is a Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller. It has worked on any other game ive played so ive had no reason to think it wouldnt for this. I just assumed it would work.
So, does this game require something my machine cant provide? or is there a driver/program/facility/upgrade that can aid me in running it? Cheers.
Oh, and has anyone else had the config blank problem.

You most likly can't run it for lack of hardware pixel shader
