Just got a new heat sink/fan in the mail today so that I couold finish putting together my semi-new computer. Only thing is the clips on the side don't really... fit. I'm almost positive that it's the right kind, though!

This is the motherboard I'm using it with.

    Here's the HSF...

I can get the unit in on the CPu no problem, but the clips won't reach all the way on both sides. Do I need a new unit or am I doing something wrong?

make sure the hsf is oriented the right way and also which part of the hsf are you trying to run the clips across?

the unit is aligned such that the metal slots on the side for the clips are in line with the hook things on the motherboard. The problem is the sides of the clips don't reach all the way across.

remove the heatsink and see if the clips will span the distance
If they dont then contact the manufacturer of the hsf and have them send the right clips
If they do then reset heatsink and hook one side then apply firm(not he-man)pressure to compress the spring on underside of clip far enough for you to hook the clip in the other side
