When trying to download software from this site I'm redirected to a HTTP 403 (Forbidden) page. I'm having the same problems with "Warning Your in Danger" on my desktop and trying to fix it. I am computer illiterate and someone should take my computer away from me. Thanks for any help.

    Hi OnSite,

c4.be0 gave you the HijackThis link by mistake.

For the "Desktop Warning" problem, please take a look at post# 12 in this thread: Help! Desktop.html...hijacked desktop.

ALSO, it might be a good idea for you to run through the Cleanup Tutorial HERE:
READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan and Virus Removal

There are only a few of us Volunteers who regularly offer advice in this forum. Running through the above Tutorial will remove a lot of stuff that would otherwise clog a HijackThis Log and save us valuable time.

Please let us know the steps that you are able to complete and the ones that give you problems. Note that you need to be in Safe Mode with System Restore OFF (if you have it - you didn't give OS) and have the Viewing of Hidden Files ENABLED as per the instructions in the link. Make sure to do the Online Scans.

Post back and let us know how you fared. Also, send us a HijackThis Log. Please be sure to follow the instructions below:

Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.99) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder – C:\Program Files\HijackThis!
Should you need a Fresh Download of HJT, get it HERE: HijackThis v1.99

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.

Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

I’m not around this forum too often these days, but somebody will try to take a look when they get a chance.

    Best luck :)
    PP

I'm still having the same problems. My OS is MS-Xp 2002. I've tried operating in safe mode as suggested but was unable to go to my homepage or any webpage. I've tried every privacy setting but still can't get to the majorgeeks.com to download HJT. When in normal mode I can get to the download site but still receive the HTTP forbidden page........Hmmmmmm, Thanks for putting up with this mess.

    Hi Onsite,

I am not sure how to explain this, so perhaps this link may be able to shed some light on the problem (if you can open it ;) )

    http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E403.html

    Also, try resetting Web Settings:
    To Reset Web Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

Also, it might be worthwhile to flush the dns cache. Try Start > Run > type cmd > OK

Then, type: ipconfig /flushdns & hit ENTER.

Did you try the thread I linked for the "Desktop Warning" problem?

    PP :)
