I am randomly starting to have crashing problems. They occur during game play, usually after it loads the application or upon exiting the application, my comp will crash to a restart and upon logging back in I get an error message stating the system has just recovered from a serious error caused from an unknown device driver.

Now, this has only been happening for a short time, and I just updated my video drivers last night, and I am still having the problem.

    Any idea's?

Dont be shy, I am a hella computer geek so I will understand anything you type, :p

Best place to start would be to find out what kind of error is causing the reboot. Right click on my computer, properties, go to advanced->Settings under "startup and recovery", uncheck "automatically restart" (this is assuming Windows XP). Hopefully, you will get a big honking bluescreen the next time the computer crashes, with helpfull error codes and maybe a file referenced.

Another thing would be to go into device manager, go to view and show hidden devices, check for bangs.

Best of luck, hope this isn't stuff you already tried!

Yeah, it's being caused by a video device driver.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Error Type: Windows stop error

    Symptoms:

    STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
    - or -
    STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Thinking it could be the recently downloaded update to the video drivers, I did a complete uninstall of the video card drivers, re-installed the new ones, and even tried rolling back, and I am still having this problem.

Well, I have resolved the issue. The cause was due to the fact that my Catalyst was not running in the background.

Alright, nevermind, it's happening again, I think I might just have to replace the video card, bah!!!!

Unless, is there any other way around this? There isn't, that I know of.

Alright, I just went ahead and ordered a new card, should be here in a few days. I got the DiabloTek ATI Radeon X700 Super (512MB DDR2).
