HELP! Reinstalled and lost all drivers.

I'm working on a Dell Dimension 2350.

I ran into some trouble and reinstalled my Windows XP O/S. When I attempted to reinstall my Dell Drivers from the disk, the computer did not recognize itself as a Dell and wouldn't install the drivers.

What should I do? Most current Dell Drivers are beyond my computer.

In particular, I'm in need of video and audio drivers. Not sure what else.

Ideas?

 

Not familiar with Dell but have you checked sites such as http://www.driverguide.com/?

 

I did check that particular site and was hesitant because of the number of lists I had to sign onto before accessing the site. Did you have a good experience with this site?

Has anyone else used it and benefited?

I used it a long time ago. Have not had any spam or trouble from them.

Seeing as you have a fresh install if you install the wrong driver you don't have far to get back to where you are now.

 

You might have to install the Chipset drivers before all the other ones in order for it to work correctly...look for them on your CD and install them or if you can find them go here

This is absolutely the problem.

Unfortunately I am not working on my original motherboard. (Long story involving a power surge.)

And I left my documentation at the computer shop, and it was gone by the time I called them to ask for it.

Which means I have no idea what model my motherboard is.

All I know is that it is an Asrock Pentium IV. Any guess as to how I can figure out the model, or at least the correct chipset drivers?

Open the case and the Asrock model should be printed on the MB. All of the drivers will be available on the Asrock site. The link below should take you to the page to pick which MB you have.

I take it I just download the AMR driver and the rest I can just use my original drivers?

 

No...Download your Audio and Video (VGA)

 

After you have them installed go into Device manager and see if there is anything in there that has a yellow ! beside it

 

Your MB model is P4S61 and this should take you to the drivers for it.
