Can't boot from USB Drive

I would like to boot Ubuntu from my USB drive instead of from my CD / DVD drive but I can't find a setting to change in the BIOS. My motherboard is an ASUS P5KPL-CM. I see choices in the BIOS for my hard drives and for the CD / DVD drive but not for my USB drive. I created the Ubunto USB boot drive with:

If I don't see a choice in the Award BIOS does this mean I have no choice but to update the BIOS by flashing it?

 

With the USB attached does hitting F8 during the POST screen get you to a USB option? I realize F8 would usually be the Windows advanced boot options but try it as soon as you get the POST screen. I almost never do that so you can probably get better answers from others.

In the meantime you could take a look at this http://www.linuxliveusb.com/en/features which is basically another program like unetbootin but offers the virtual environment you are looking for. If you have already downloaded the Ubuntu ISO separately and have it on your HD it should only take a couple of minutes to try USB Creator to put it on the USB and see how it works for you. In the fourth section you would check the third box to try that option. I would check all three boxes in that section to format the drive, hide files which you don't need to see and add the virtual environment files you need to launch the virtual program in Windows. If you don't like it you can always go back to unetbootin or just reload the USB with LiLi and leave the virtual environment box unchecked this time.
