My PC (Acer Aspire 5920) (running Win Vista HP SP2) has recently developed this problem: after I have logged onto the PC and allowed it to start-up I then open my browser (Firefox 28) then the PC just freezes. This can sometimes last several minutes. After that it doesn't freeze again.

What could be causing this problem?
How could I identify the cause of the problem?
How could this problem be resolved?

    Thanks!

Try loading firefox in safe mode (no add-ons) to see if it freezes then.

As sexyandy81 suggests, try disabling all add-ons then enable them one at a time to see which one(s) are causing the freeze up.
