Hi, I'm having problems with some Malware that is blocking all access to my desktop but I don't know how similar it is to other problems mentioned on the site. I have Vista and whenever I log on I get a white screen with a message in english and again in German stating "please wait whilst connection is beeing established".

I ran FRST.exe and have attached the resulting .txt file. Help please?

Hi and welcome to Major Geeks, LeeSuss!

See if the below helps out:

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.

    Hi thisisu,
thanks for the fixlist. After posting yesterday I spotted which trojan was causing this from the FRST report and having checked out the details of what the trojanb did (found on http://www.threatexpert.com) I'd already gone in and changed a lot of the reg entries affected using Kaspersky on a USB key. I hadn't had any luck with any of the other command line/bootable virus checkers I tried.

I've now run the fixlist you so kindly provided to make sure everything is clear and I've attached the Fixlog.txt in case its helpful. Is it correct that the files listed at the bottom were the ones originally affected?

My desktop icons including the recycle bin have vanished which I gather is not uncommon but I haven't checked yet to see if they are hidden or deleted. I can't click on the desktop either so something is still off - if you can offer any help with that too that would be great.

    Best wishes and thanks.

Apologies - scrap my last post as I've resolved the desktop clicking and missing icons issue. Not exactly sure which thing worked as I tried a few, but probably the reg entry I found giving NoDesktop a binary of 1. Restart and everything is back to normal and my system seems to have picked up speed again.

Thank you for sharing as we have had a couple other users bring this issue up.

    You're welcome. Be safe! :)
