I have posted a few places asking how to set the focus when I go to the Google search page so it is ready for input. My browser sets the focus on the URL bar at the end of the URL so I am typing a junk URL and get nowhere.

Mostly I was told it is all my fault, no one else ever has this problem, my feet stink, my mother dresses me funny and I should buy a Mac.
This link documents it pretty well, my browser is latest Waterfox

    Any ideas?

    Hi DOA

I have had it when google search page is slowasshell at times to load, shouldn't be as it has nothing on it, but does it. I tried another search engine and all ok.

My thoughts are have you tried a different browser and if so what ones?
Dont use ad blocking apps as weirdly google does advertise via google search at times, and while its their own apps, its still advertising.

Clear cache and cookies but that's a given you have likely already done.

    IE and Chrome are fine.
Thanks for the help, I will just wait out the next version and see if they fix it.

I was going to suggest using the [F6] key to toggle between the address bar and Google's search box, but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

As David asks, have you tried a different browser? In particular(since you're using a Gecko based 64-bit version) one of these:

Cyberfox 64-Bit Web Browser - MajorGeeks
    Pale Moon - MajorGeeks

I haven't tried Cyberfox but apparently many folks prefer it to Firefox/Waterfox.

When using Pale Moon x64 on the Google seach page, Google's search box is the default for the cursor position when you open the page. On the other hand, DuckDuckGo is the default search engine for Pale Moon. This can be easily changed by placing Google as the first search enging in Pale Moon's search bar, "Manage Search Engines..." from the search bar drop down menu.

If you prefer the minimalist look of the Waterfox UI, that can also be easily achived with Pale Moon.

I suspect this has been fixed. Yesterday evening my laptop's Firefox was doing the same, but today it's OK, focus is in the search box.
