hi. my wireless card used to work great i had no problems until i got spyware message that said something like "winanonymous can delete all spyware malware from you infected computer...... etc" this messae would constanly pop up whenever i would connecct to the internet. it allways disconnected me and restarted my computer. no spyware virus scan detected anything and eventually i was unable to connect to the internet using wireless. i formatted and installed the same op but my wireless woud still not work. but me formatting, i would think would elimiate the possibility of it being a spyware/virus problem anymore. eveytime i try to connect i see "connecting to bswee" then "windows cannot connect diagnose connect to diff network." it isnt my netwrok because i tried to conect to my school's network and i get the same problem. strangely though one morning i got up and was able to connect to my network for about 2 hours then it got dc and couldnt connect again. i think its because my roomate connected to the network with his laptop. i think as long as someone else is on a network i cannot connect to it. im not sure. but its set to automatically obtain ip. i did eveythin possible... updated drivers, formatted and installed xp that didnt work so i formatted again an installed vista sp1. nothin works. can someone help me please. its an intel(r) pro wireless 2200bg.

    things ive done already:

    1 reset winsock
    2 reset tcpip
    3 reinstalled vista
4 formatted installed xp to see if its ah vista prob
5 disabled tcp/ipv6 (i heard theres compatability isues with some routrs)
6 hijackthis (to rule out spyware for the 1000000 time)
    7 updated drivers
8 took out wireless card and cleaned it in case it had dust and i looked for visible signs of damage (although its extremely improbable of having any)

(did not do these things in this order. but they all were done)

im beginning to think its hardware. like my wireless card is done for or somthing. but i can see networks. thats confusing

First, I'm not sure wether or not your wireless adapter is a PCI card or USB adapter but I'm not going to spend much time trying to find out because it doesn't really matter, what I'd suggest you do is try a different slot. If it's a USB adapter, try plugging it into a different USB port. If your plugging it into a USB port some place like the front, where all ports in the front will be connected to the motherboard using the same connection, try a port in the back. If it's a PCI card, try a different PCI slot. If that doesn't work.... I know you've said you've installed and reinstalled the drivers and all, but it wouldn't hurt to open up Device Manager and make sure everything looks ok there. Right click on My Computer and select properties. Then click on Device Manager. Make sure nothing shows up with a yellow warning sign showing that there is a problem.

If none of that works, at this point, I'd try another wireless adapter, or borrow your roomates to test your computer with(unless his is built in to his laptop). Sometimes they just go bad, or can become damaged by a surge or something of that nature.

I just got hit with this annoyance. It is very aggressive and pops up a window with lists of all the "probable spy ware issues I am supposed to have. I entered when I was looking at a video on a gardening site. I was told I needed to repair a windows feature. I also ran my usual spy ware and virus deleters but no avail. I went to its site which is xpantivirus.com but damned if I will load it. Any one else seen this yet?

Yes, it's called malware and the xpantivirus is a rogue program. You need to go to the malware forum, follow the Read and Run First instructions and then start a thread there with the logs that are requested. :)
