    Hello,

First, I am new to this site so if I do/post something improperly, please let me know.

I have 3 kids in my house that like to play an online game called Roblox. They like the game but I have some concerns with it. I have been noticing that everytime they get on Roblox and play a "community" game, i.e. playing against other people - not just building their own world, strange things happen with my laptop.

The first thing I noticed seemed like someone was "remote viewing" my laptop. My wife was trying to get onto her email account, while Roblox was open in another screen, and while she was typing it seemed like someone else was also typing. Then the cursor moved to the address bar and random letters were typed in and then the screen went to a "page not available at this time" type of thing.

Now on a few occasions, all when Roblox is open, we try to type in an input field and nothing happens.

If anyone has any input on what could be happening and/or any way to prevent/correct these issue would be alot of help.

    Thank you very much.

    Read this: http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/I_Got_%22Hacked%22
and see if any of this applies to you.

A good step to to take would be to change all passwords used on this machine. A good password will have (if allowed) at least one number, one upper case letter, and one special character, i.e. "%" After that password length is the thing that adds strength. Use the max number of characters allowed.

Another thought would be to visit http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 and do the steps in http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 before posting for help in the malware forum.

Any from the top freeware picks are a good place to start, also install and anti virus with real time protection such as AVG if you haven't got one and keep it up to date,

I would also recommend you read the how to protect yourself from malware sticky for a range of measures.EDIT 'As cipher said.' sorry just got there before me;)

What your describing sounds like a pop up or under ad that mimics a browser window making it appear your mouse has moved to the address bar then typed something in,nothing has actually happened to your computer this is just an animation.

I'm not familiar with roblox but if it is ad supported which many free games are then this is the most likely explanation, from what I can gather it is supported by corporate ads as well as user designed ads but the game appears safe to use.

My Son and Daughter like to play as well. Son is especially adventurous about trying things in his games.

I gave up fighting the viruses and malware.
For me it has been much faster to make them identical machines, do a clean install with all updates and drivers and use Windows Backup to image the drive. I even quit running anti-virus on these two. About every two weeks they act up and I restore. All done in 15 minutes as opposed to hours trying to clean up a compromised OS. They keep backups of their games or have to re-install.

If you have problems often or hate cleaning malware, consider this option.

thank you very much for all your responses. so maybe what i got was a virus or something. i used kapersky and scanned for viruses, forgot to try the malwarebytes program.

on a theoretical side, is it possible for someone to hack into someone elses computer via a public domain (for lack of a better word) such as roblox, facebook, etc... and have access to that persons computer? the reason i ask is that all the info i have come across regarding Roblox hackers relate to people thinking that their roblox account was hacked. This is not really my concern though, i am more concerned with someone being able to gain access to my actual computer. Is this possible and or something worth a "hackers" time?

thanks again, you have all been a big help:)
