Ok so I put together some new hardware that my brother bought. It gets to the BIOS screen, but does not recognize his PS2 keyboard, so he went and picked up a USB keyboard, will not recognize it either. I removed the battery for a couple hours hoping that it would clear all the BIOS, no change. Both of these pieces of hardware were new out of the box. So does anyone have any thoughts on what the problem might be :confused

    Core 2 Duo Processor E6750, LGA775 Pgk
    2.66 GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 1333 MHz FSB
Requires electrically compatible board - PCG 06

    Gigabyte S-series GA-P35-DS3L

when you startup a computer and try to fiddle around with it before windows xp starts up it won't reconize it because usb keyboard don't work until windows starts up all the hardware but i am guessing that you should've bought a new ps2 keyboard instead of a usb one (try to get a usb to ps2 converter it might be a little cheaper)

He has two new keyboards PS/2 and USB.
So at this point a converter isn't needed.

For the moment, try plugging the PS/2 keyboard into the mouse port. Does it work? If not, maybe PS/2 is not enabled in the BIOS. Have a look in there.
Also, I suspect the ports need power to work. Look around to be sure everything on the motherboard is properly connected.

I double checked it several times and everything appears to be plugged in properly. This is my brother the engineer's :( home computer so it is hard situation in the first place. Unfortunately I can get to the BIOS screen but without a keyboard I'm pretty much screwed. I should have did a bench test on the motherboard and processor before I put it in the case and that is probably what I will do next time I get sometime and can send him off to get CPU bearings LOL. He's a mechanical engineer and it's sad how little he knows about computers. Probably should have let him take it to a shop in the first place! Now I'm responsible if you know what I mean.

    Hi Rez,

Even brand new out of the box can be bad. Try another PS2 keyboard.

    Good Luck, Jim
