control panel

i can open my control panel but if i want to open something inside i get this message.

windows cannot access the spacific device,path,file .you my not have the appropriate permissionto access the item.


but i have been set up as addminstrator from the begining this started today. please help

Wisewiz would be best to answer this, but I would try using my XP disc to try to correct the problem.

 

i did a scan with adaware and virus scan with avg all up to date. did not help.

when you say use xp disc .

I would be curious to see if it happens in Safe Mode, provided System Restore doesn't work.

i think i sorted it.
when i started my comp before my kerio firewall started i gained access to the control panel .
with it started i can't access now.ihave look at the settings but i can't see what to change.
any surgestions.
