Scroll Wheel on Mouse - Weird Problem

Hey all

I was just using my computer tonight, and suddenly my scroll wheel started acting differently. If I scroll one notch, the page goes down slightly, but if I scroll another notch, it jumps right back up. Thus, if I scroll fast, the page jumps up and down, and I get nowhere on the page.

I have tested this on many different windows and programs on my computer with the same result.

I tried to update my mouse drivers, but there didn't seem to be any new updates for generic ball mice.

Just to be sure it wasn't spyware, I ran AdAware, S&D, and did a check in HijackThis...nothing that I saw.

Any ideas?

do you have another mouse to try out?

 

I have the same problem with one of the mice in my lab, there is no fix for it, the little switch inside the scroll is going bad. Time for a new mouse.
