Well this was an interesting event, was sittin on my computer taking an online quiz and a soda can fell over onto the top of my computer, (which has two holes on the top one blow hole and the PSU fan hole) and naturally the soda decided to go right into the PSU and case! Instantly pulled the power cable from the back of my computer cleaned the top took it apart wiped alot of it down with isoproponal alocohol (91%) the stuff got on my motherboard, ram(on the connectors and inside the HeatSink), psu, and video card along with the cables. I thought my computer was doomed. After cleaning up the mess and letting it dry for about 5 hours and putting everything back together i first before trying anything else manually started up my PSU suprised it still worked I let it run for awhile then put it in my case and attached all the cables praying for the best... Got the good old BEEP my raid booted into Windows with no problems. I think i am pretty damn lucky to have my computer survive this (guess i pulled the power cable fast enough) this computer wasnt cheap either lol. I figured it was a goner..

That was very lucky. Years ago i spilled a cup of tea (with sugar) on my playstation. It was switched of at the time.I took it apart and scrubbed the 2 circuit boards with hot soapy water and a toothbrush.Put it in the airing cupboard for 24 hours put it back together and it was fine. This was when they first came out and was about £200.

Good for you! :) The trick with electronics is letting them completely dry before trying to power them up. You did things exactly right.

Diet soda is even better, it doen't leave a sticky residue. An older keyboard can testify to that.
