Windows Media wont play DVD

My Windows Media wont play this options trading DVD,it says DVD decoder is not installed, they want me to buy one. Is there a free player out there?

 

From what I've read here at the Forums, VLC Media Player is very good. Someone like plodr is quite familiar with it.

I use VLC player all the time. It is an excellent free multimedia player.

I highly recommend it!

When installed, it will also install its own codecs so that will allow windows media player to now play the dvd, if you prefer to use wmp.

I love Potplayer. I think it beats WMP hands down, and it's free, haven't tried VLC but high praises on it too.

 

hey thanks.... I will give it a try too... I have a junk picked lap top that it may work well on...

will it play dvd + or - ? I'm having trouble with dvd+ formats not working on the computer very well... works great on the players though...

 

I just put the vlc on the dead battery laptop and it plays cds, -dvds, and movies... works good!
I have downloaded the other one and wondering if I should try it too... if it would play +dvds and the others too it would be great but I don't know yet.
