page cannot be displayed ever

my mother inlaws pc is running windows xp sp2
dsl
and cannot connect to the net
"page cannot be displayed"
the dsl modem lights are on
I have checked winsock
looked of winsock errors
run a/v scans spyware scans
come up with a few things
safe mode and not
and still nothing

I have reset the modem
and have exausted every option I can think of

any other options?

 

Tyr a different computer at the same location. Make sure the network connection is configured correctly. You may want to contact the service provider when you run out of other things to try.

The Windows Firewall gives some folks problems. I don't like it and I recommend shutting it off and using some other kind of software (Zone Alarm, Norton, etc.).

Otherwise, go START->RUN type "cmd" (no quotes) in the box and type "ipconfig /all" (again, without the quotes) and cut the text from that command window and paste it into your reply so we can see how your network device(s) is/are configured.
