AC'97 Audio CODECs fighting with WinXP? Error listed.

Hello, I have been getting the following error when I boot up my WinXP Pro machine.

Windows has recovered from a serious error. (something like that, and then when I click to see what it was I get: )

Error signature:
BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : BEBFF650 BCP2 : 00000001 BCP3 : F74BCDD9
BCP4 : 00000002 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 1_0 Product : 256_1

So I then click to see what files caused it....

The following files will be included in this error report.

C:\DOCUME~1\pent\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml


When I choose to send in the error report IE brings up a page from Microsoft saying: "The error was likely caused by Windows (R) WDM driver for Realtek AC'97 (ALCXWDM.SYS)."

Then it links me to a 'fix' from Realtek, so I download the new Windows 98Gold/98se/Me/2000/XP/2003(32/64 bits) for Driver only and I install it.

I then think everything is fixed... but when I went to power up my PC this morning I get the same error after it boots up...

I checked the driver version that is installed right now and it is: 5.10.0.6030 made on: 2/17/06

btw... This is a new mobo (new to me: Epox EP-8RDA Pro), so I ran whatever was on the mobo CD to install the drivers.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.
