Laptop Will not Boot

    So my laptop has decided not to boot, it starts up and then goes to the "Choose which mode to boot in" screen where all options cause a crash which then brings me back to the "choose which mode to boot in" screen.

    So I figure I have to reinstall the system(I could be wrong) but I have no idea how to do that if it will not boot.

    Any advice?

    I have seen some older laptops that if a cd was in the drive it would do this, can you get into setup [bios]? Do you have the restore disc? What it is trying to do is find something to boot from, hd or cd and it cant find anything. ed
