    Anybody met, and more importantly conquered, the AOL Runtime Error on attempted login?

    Have uninstalled and reinstalled AOL 9 several times on this pc, with and without antivirus.
    Have followed the Microsoft KB article which basically says clean the ashtray, sorry recycle bin, and clear the windows/temp folder. Had to do this with Bart PE on account of some locked files.

    This pc has XP home with 5 users. AOL works perfectly for four of them

    But the fifth produces a runtime error which says
    C++ library runtime error
    waol.exe has requested runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
    when AOL starts and you try to log on.

    Any ideas? AOL's best offer is in unintelligible.

    Create a new user profile and try reinstalling it on there.

    Thanks, that's our last resort because it's the principal users' account. As of course predicted by you know who's law.
