After removing a nasty bunch of spyware and Trojans from an XP Home machine neither of the built in DVD ROMs will autoplay anymore. They used to open with WMP but now even when you turn on autoplay in Properties and tell it to use WMP or ITunes for that matter it will not autoplay an Audio CD or DVD or even come up with the dialog box offering options.

If you right click on D drive for instance and left click play, WMP will try to open but says that it cannot play the file extension (.) when of course the cd file is a .cda.

Is there some trick or reg hack?

    Thanks
