    Hi Guys,

The PC that I am working had around about 1500 malware and spyware infections. I used malwarebytes to remove all the malware and spyware.

Than ran combofix.exe and it removed some more infections.

Than ran the programs again and there was no more infections.

Now the problem is that I can not browser the Internet at all, either on Firefox 3.0.5 or IE 6, I can ping and the Java updates happen in the background.

I keep get a connection refused in Firefox and when I try to browser in IE, e.g www.google.co.uk and error comes up with 'Internet Explorer could not open the search page'.

Removed Firefox and re-installed still no joy.

I first thought it was the firewall so I uninstalled Mcafee all in one security and disabled Windows Firewall.

    It's a Windows XP SP 3.

I have used the following software on the machine

    Superanti-spyware remover Once
malwarebytes 4 times (2 twice in safe mode) 1st and 2nd time malware found and removed
Combofix 3 times (Once in safe mode) 1st time found and removed
    Winsock 5 times
    ATF Cleaner
    HiJackthis (followed your tutorial)
    Lsgfix

If someone could please help me, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

First you should check to make sure your connections settings have not been changed to specify use a proxy. That is unless you are using a proxy and in that case make sure the proxy server settings are correct.

If the above is not the problem, then make sure that you have set your Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties to for DHCP ( that is Obtain an IP address automatically ) and also do the same for the DNS server.

If the none of the above help, then you need to attach all of the logs requested in our READ & RUN ME cleaning procedure and you should not have been running scans multiple times especially ComboFix. Attach the below logs and if you have run SAS and MBAM multiple times then attach all of the logs so we can see a history of what was removed.
    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebyes Anti-Malware
    • ComboFix
    • MGlogs.zip (which is the log from running MGtools.exe)
