Home wireless network, no internet.

Hi all,
I have set-up a wireless network at my home I have an adsl router sharing an internet connection between two laptops. One laptop is plugged in and working fine, the other isn't.

This laptop connects to the network fine and receives full signal strength but I cant get it to connect to the internet.
It is a windows me laptop, there are 3 or 4 internet connections already installed but I have checked never dial a connection in internet options.
Any thing anyone can suggest?

 

More info is required to determine what the issue is.
The first obvious thing...make sure you're connected to your own network! I've seen many people wonder why one PC works, and the other doesn't. All the while they don't have their router setup properly, and their neighbour doesn't have their connection secured!

1. Go to Start --> Run. Type winipcfg and press OK. Select your wireless card from the drop down menu and provide all of the information here.
2. Do you have encryption on your router? If so, make sure you've configured your PC correctly to connect to it.
3. Go to Start --> Run. Type command and press OK. Type "ping 4.2.2.2", what do you see? Type "ping google.com", what do you see?
4. Set EVERYTHING in your Internet Browser to defaults. Make sure there's no proxy settings entered, or if it's attempting to "automatically detect settings". In IE this is found here: Tools --> Internet Options. Click the connections tab, press LAN Settings, and make sure there's nothing checked in here.

 

Seeing a Good Signak does Not mean you you actually have a connetion.
