I must have a new variant of this virus because when i type in the virus name in google im only getting a few returns and they all seem to be in french. This virus is disgusting! it's lockin up my computer and running processes which take up 100% of my CPU power. im not even posting this from the infected computer because it simply wont connect due to this virus over clockling my CPU! it makes it over-clock and the fan runs constantly for 5 mins to cool it! this thing is killing my PC hard! Can anyone help? ive tried the symantec beaglefx.exe this takes forever to run! i was considering buying a new hard drive and connecting the old one via piece of kit which acts as a shell for internal hard drives to by used as external connected via USB. would this only reinfect my PC? im hoping not as i had to click an .exe file to install this virus, so im hoping it will stay contaied in the WINDOWS folder... which i will delete soon as its connected? would this work? i need more space anyway... thing is i have gigs of sound files on this drive i need to save or i would have just formatted it! any help on fixing this infection and/or advice on the procedure i mentioned about installing a new hard drive and accessing the files on the old on would be much appreciated!

    Thanks :wave

    Hi sharky100,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm not sure what capabilities you have, but there are several places for you to begin. Go to the READ & RUN ME FIRST and see if you can get CCleaner intalled. If so, run it. If not continue with this. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for the instructions specific to your operating system. On the page that opens, look for the link called Using Combofix and click on that. Download and install Combofix on your desktop.

Reboot your computer into safemode (clicking F8 during the bootup sequence until you get the menu where the top item is Safe Mode). Find Combofix. on the desktop and run it by double-clicking on it.

Then go back into normal mode and download and run the MGTools which are described and can be downloaded in the link called Using MGTools. If you're able to do these, please attach the logs from Combofix and the MGlogs.zip (directly under C).

If you're not able to do any of the above, not even just get the MGTools to run, please tell me and we'll try something more experimental. But the above would be the best way if possible.
