I'm looking at installing software to wipe my Hard Drive. Have seen Sure Delete recommended by some members on this board and have also seen BCWipe recommended.

As I don't know very much about this process but want to wipe/shred deleted information on my Hard Drive well, I have several questions.

If I understand it correctly Sure Delete primarily wipes Free Space on the Hard Drive and Allows one to shred individual files and folders. BCWipe provides for wiping Free Space on the Disk as well as wiping Swap Files, Files Slacks, and Directory Entries.

My questions are is there much advantage to wiping Swap Files, Files Slacks, and Directory Entries in addition to wiping Free Disk Space or is wiping Free Disk Space sufficent.

I'm mainly concerned with shredding any information that's easily retrievable on my Hard Drive associated with online banking, and credit card purchase on the net, password deletions, etc.

I'm running Xp Pro 20 GB Hard Drive, 900mhz Processor.
